After the first round of New Translators Contest 2009, students from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences - Iveta Gaile, Ilva Šinta and Valda Jurāne -  are invited to the second round.

The Winners of BVEF Excellence Award

The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (BVEF) has nominated this year's Excellence Award winners.  3rd year students of business administration - Guntis Jurāns, Līga Kurme, Lelde Ozoliņa and Jānis Liepiņš - received the award for participation and 8th place in ‘'GE Money Bank Intellecticus 2009" Olympiad. 

Discussion with U.S. Ambassador to Latvija Judith Garber

On Monday, December 14, U.S. Ambassador Judith Garber will hold a discussion with Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences students  on the topic of "The U.S. Commitment to  Latvia and the Baltics".

Conference Proceedings about EU Strategic Challenges in the Baltic Sea Region

The volume was published by Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences during the Consultation about EU strategy of the Baltic Sea Region. The Strategy aims at coordinating action by Member States, regions, the EU, pan-Baltic organizations, financing institutions and non-governmental bodies to promote a more balanced development of the Region.

In 2011 ATLAS conference will be held in Latvia

The Association for Tourism and Leisure Education (ATLAS) has informed that its council has awarded Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) with the right to organize the ATLAS conference in Valmiera in year 2011.

Students and Lecturer form ViA participate in ERASMUS intensive programme in Estonia

From August 3 to 14 students and lecturer Ilze Grīnfelde from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management participate in ERASMUS Intensive Program (IP) "Sustainable Rural Tourism" in Kuressaare College of Tallinn Technical University.

Students and Scholars from Latvia Receive U.S. Fulbright Scholarships

On Wednesday, July 15, U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires Bruce Rogers hosted a reception in honor of Latvian students and scholars who have received the prestigious U.S. government’s Fulbright scholarship.  Five students and four researchers from several Latvian universities and different academic fields will study or conduct research in a U.S. university during the next academic year, among them Ms. Liene Locmele, lecturer from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences who will work towards her Ph.D.

Opening of the Baltic International Summer School 2009

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is opening the 11th International Baltic Summer school on July 3 at 7p.m. It lasts to July 19. The motto is" East, we, West: Looking for Common and Different in the Culture of European countries."

An Expert of USA Political Communication Will Deliver Lecture in ViA

On Saturday, May 30, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) will host the Associate Professor of George Mason University (USA) - Steven Farnsworth. He will give a lecture about the president of USA Barack Obama's first 100 days in his position as well as other issues of political communication.

ViA students – laureates at Chinese language competition
