3rd International Scientific Conference in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences
3rd International Scientific Conference “Solutions on Harmonizing Sustainability and Nature Protection with Socio-Economic Stability” of the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) and Nature Conservation Agency North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, starts today in Valmiera, ViA.
Documentary short film about hogweeds
Independent film maker and former Long Island University professor Lucille Rhodes in collaboration with Professor Gregory Nathaniel Taff from University of Memphis and 3 Media studies and Journalism programme students from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) will make documentary short film on hogweed.
International Summer School Devoted to Environmental Awareness Issues
From August 4 to 18 Vidzemes University of Applied Sciences (ViA) is organizing the 2nd programme of this year’s Baltic International Summer School – “Environmental Awareness. Communication. Interpretation.” realized within Erasmus Intensive Programme framework. The project will involve students and lectures from partner universities in Finland, Turkey, the Netherlands, USA, Canada and Latvia.

“At ViA, 24% of our graduates in 2009-10 had been abroad. This is ahead of the 20% agreed in the Bologna Process for 2020,” proffers Iveta Putnina referring to the university’s success in its internationalisation strategy.
Putnina is Head of Study, Research and International Relations at Vidzemes University of Applied Sciences. When she joined the university in 2003 the building blocks for Erasmus were already firmly in place.
Lecturer and Students from the University of Memphis (USA) visit ViA
With the support of the Fulbright Specialist Program, asisstant professor Gregory Nathaniel Taff from the University of Memphis (USA) is visiting Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. During the visit he will take part in several summer programmes organized by Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, as well as be involved in other academic activities together with students from the University of Memphis and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences.

Erasmus Staff Training Week at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences
From May 31 to June 4 Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) hosts international staff training week: Innovations and Synergy of Social Sciences and Technologies in a Regional University. 15 participants from universities in Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania and Switzerland are taking part in the training week.

5 students from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences Tourism organization and Management programme participated in the 7th Latvian Preliminary Round for Chinese Bridge competition.
Tourism Students from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences Go on a Short Term Mobility to Finland
A student group from Tourism Organization and Management and Tour Guide study programmes will visit University of Eastern Finland from May 10 to 15, 2010, within Nordplus Express mobility project. Students will visit Finland in the study course “Sustainable tourism planning, management and promotion”.
Two Summer School Programmes in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences This Summer
Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) is actively developing its international activities, and this year Valmiera will host already two 12th Baltic International Summer School programmes – both devoted to topical issues in community and academic research: intercultural communication and environment awareness.
